panel introductions
Always animated me:-)

2022 August: What a buzz it was to both attend the Women in Emerging Tech (WiET) conference and to moderate the “How to get a job in emerging tech” panel. The event was held in Melbourne, hosted at Deloittes and partnered with the Victorian Government. Apparently my superpower is to succinctly summarise what someone is saying and simplify it for the audience.

Mentor of the Year

September 5, 2022

2022 July: I was genuinely surprised (and thrilled) to be awarded the University of Queensland “Mentor of the Year” Award. Since retiring in Feb 2020 I have felt a little lost, and it was reengaging in voluntary efforts that I regained my energy and focus. I thank UQ for the opportunities they have given me, and am thrilled that my contributions have been valued by the entrepreneurial students in the Ventures Program.

Jenine Beekhuyzen OAM, Fiona Holmstrom and Sonja Bernhardt OAM at WiT Board readiness celebration.

2022 July: Women in Technology (wiT) held a graduation/celebration event for their renowned Board Readiness Program. I was delighted to catch up with Jenine Beekhuyzen a legend in the girls technology space and Fiona Holmstrom a legend in the STEM space.

The 3 of us have made significant contributions to QLD STEM and IMHO are legends indeed!

Digital Transformation (DX)

July 8, 2022

2022 June: Digital Transformation: DX may have only be coined in 2011/2012 BUT we did it way back when in the late 80’s and 90’s when the hottest tech thing was Automation- especially of Payroll, Finances and HR.

BOY the lessons I learnt then, they came in handy when I was invited to share my life and learnings re DX with the University of Qld Liveris Academy students last week.

Facing todays thrill of AI, IOT, VR, Robotics, Blockchain etc IS as exciting and leading edge as it was for those of us in the era of Automation was. Really good to know that relevance still applies even though decades later:-)

I also had the joy of sharing the presentation with the wise and highly experienced and genuine lovely guy John Puttick.
